ExxonMobil Introduces Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil Formulations to Meet API'S CJ-4 and CI-4 PLUS Specifications; Newly Reformulated Mobil Delvac 1300 Super Exceeds Requirements For API CJ-4 Diesel Engine Oil Specification
New Mobil Delvac MX Exceeds API CI-4 PLUS And CI-4 Specifications
FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 2006-- Continuing its long-standing tradition of being at the forefront
of lubrication technology and helping drivers and fleet managers
extend the life of their engines, ExxonMobil today announced two
significant changes to its premium line of Mobil Delvac heavy duty
engine oils.
To meet the American Petroleum Institute's API CJ-4 diesel engine
oil specification, which encompasses the new requirements for Proposed
Category 10 (PC-10), ExxonMobil will introduce a new formulation of
its "Million Mile Oil," Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40, in October.
With more than seven million miles of extensive field testing
behind it, the new formulation of Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 will
exceed category requirements for soot control, wear protection, oil
consumption and deposit control. The new formulation will be backwards
compatible and meet the requirements of API CI-4 and CI-4 PLUS, and
will deliver significant performance enhancement compared to API CI-4
PLUS technology, helping to extend the life of both new and older
engines, as well as new emissions after-treatment systems.
In addition to its reformulated Mobil Delvac 1300 Super, in
October ExxonMobil will introduce a new member to its Mobil Delvac
line, Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40, which will exceed the API CI-4 Plus
specification.
"With new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emission
regulations for heavy duty vehicles taking effect in 2007, diesel
engine oil performance requirements will become more stringent," said
Douglas Pond, Commercial Vehicle Lubricants Advisor - Americas,
ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. "As we have for more than 80
years, since the Mobil Delvac brand was introduced to the marketplace,
ExxonMobil continues to set new standards for advanced lubricant
technology and performance.
"In over 7 million miles of extensive field testing, the new Mobil
Delvac 1300 Super formulation delivered exceptional results, giving us
great confidence to bring it to market as a cutting-edge CJ-4 product
for 2007 engines using after-treatment devices. With reformulated
Mobil Delvac 1300 Super, our customers can also have the peace of mind
that they will be able to maintain current drain intervals for older
engines using diesel fuel with either 15 ppm or 500 ppm
(parts-per-million) sulfur content.
"For our customers in the off-highway industry, Mobil Delvac MX
15W-40 will offer an ideal solution to help protect and extend the
life of their equipment with a product that has proven performance in
engines that require both CI-4 and CI-4 PLUS oils."
