Simon Property Group and Cingular Wireless Form Marketing Alliance To Promote SBC and Bellsouth Wireless Plans
Promotion to Reach More Than 50 Million Shoppers Who Will Make 250 Million Visits to Participating Simon Malls During the Holiday Season
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 6, 2000) - Simon Brand Ventures, a strategic business initiative of Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE: SPG), the nation's largest mall owner and manager, today announced that it has joined forces with Cingular Wireless to launch an integrated promotion to drive awareness of the SBC Family Talk and BellSouth Rollover Minutes plans among the more than 50 million shoppers who will make 250 million visits to participating Simon malls during the holiday season.
Beginning November 1, shoppers who sign-up to receive wireless phone service from Cingular's brands, including BellSouth Mobility, Cellular One, Southwestern Bell, Ameritech, Pacific Bell and SNET, at retail stores or kiosks at more than 100 Simon malls nationwide will receive a free Santa photo package valued at $25. Shoppers in 50 malls will have the added benefit of making a free 2-minute cellular phone call to a loved one while in line to have their photo taken with Santa.
"Simon malls offer Cingular Wireless the opportunity to connect face-to-face with shoppers who will be thinking of friends and loved ones during the holidays," said Cathi Weiner, vice president of partnership and marketing development for Simon Brand Ventures. "Companies like Cingular are choosing this live media environment to communicate their brand messages with consumers across multiple marketing channels at a time when they are at the point-of-purchase."
The promotion will be supported through other media channels offered by Simon, including a 4-page cover wrap of the November issue of S, Simon's national lifestyle magazine and on-mall advertising. Cingular will also have a promotional logo and link on the Home Page of the Simon Web site located at www.shopsimon.com, as well as the individual Web sites of participating Simon malls, that directly link users to information about the promotion.
To further enhance the physical presence of Cingular, kiosks promoting the Family Talkä and Rollover Minutesä plans, as well as other Cingular Wireless services, will be added to Simon malls that are participating in the promotion but do not have an existing retail presence.

Cingular Wireless, a joint venture between SBC (NYSE:SBC) and BellSouth (NYSE: BLS), provides wireless voice and data service to more than 19 million customers in 38 states, the District of Columbia and two U.S. territories.
