Pre Close Trading Statement
Shanks Group plc, a leading European waste management company today issues the
following trading statement.
Overall results for the first six months of the 2006/7 year are forecast to be
in line with the Group's expectations giving confidence for the year as a whole.
Initial results from the recent acquisitions of Smink Beheer BV in The
Netherlands and the waste management and recycling activities of John W Hannay &
Co Limited in the UK are encouraging with performances at least in line with the
Commissioning of the first of two innovative Mechanical Biological Treatment
(MBT) facilities at our East London Waste Authority (ELWA) contract is nearing
completion substantially according to plan. Progress on the second facility and
the Dumfries and Galloway PFI project facility is in line with or, in some
areas, slightly ahead of schedule.
There has been strong interest in the solid recovered fuel generated by the MBT
process and production quantities are now being delivered.
The Group's interim results for the six months to 30 September 2006 will be
announced on Wednesday 8 November 2006.
