SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 2006--McKesson Corporation is aware of the proposed settlement between database publisher First DataBank and plaintiffs in the litigation discussed in today's Wall Street Journal. McKesson is a defendant in that litigation. We believe the claims against McKesson have no merit and we will defend ourselves vigorously.

The settlement relates to average wholesale prices (AWP) established for branded drugs several years ago.

McKesson does not set AWP. First DataBank sets AWP. In the period covered by the litigation, McKesson believed it was one of three national wholesalers that First DataBank surveyed to derive its published average wholesale prices. If First DataBank decided to survey McKesson only, it did so without telling McKesson. In fact, First DataBank has affirmed in an earlier lawsuit involving other parties that it never told McKesson that at times McKesson was the only wholesaler being surveyed.
