Bruker Daltonics Pioneers Ion Trap Accurate Mass Methods for Proteomics
BIOWIRE2K
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BW HealthWire)--June 3, 2002--At the American
Society for Mass Spectrometry conference, Bruker Daltonics Inc.
(NASDAQ: BDAL) today introduces AccuMass(TM), a new method for high
mass accuracy protein identification on its esquire3000plus(TM) ion
trap mass spectrometers. AccuMass improves both the mass accuracy of
peptide mass fingerprints, and of MS/MS peptide sequence data acquired
on esquire3000plus systems significantly, to 0.05 Daltons and better.
AccuMass allows the researcher to perform database searches with
improved specificity due to better discrimination against false
positives, while search times can be reduced fourfold. The combination
of AccuMass with the superior scan power of the esquire3000plus, which
resolves multiply-charged ions on-the-fly in standard scan mode at
13,000 amu/sec, makes the esquire3000plus the most powerful ion trap
LC/MSn system for proteomics. For high-throughput environments, the
esquire3000plus integrates into the Proteineer(TM) proteomics suite,
combining automated sample preparation systems, mass spectrometry and
bioinformatics.
