Acme Packet Announces New Solutions to Streamline Business Processes
Using Live and Recorded IP Voice, Video and Unified CommunicationsTwo new products enable enterprises, contact centers and service
providers to accelerate time to market and increase return on investment
for end-to-end IP communications
BEDFORD, Mass., Feb 28, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Acme Packet(R) (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session delivery network
solutions, today announced two new products - the Net-Net(R) Interactive
Session Recorder (ISR) and the Net-Net(R) Application Session Controller
(ASC). These additions expand the Net-Net(R) product family, enabling
enterprises, contact centers and service providers to record IP sessions
and integrate live and recorded IP voice, video and unified
communications (UC) into Web 2.0 business applications to ensure
regulatory compliance, improve customer service, increase efficiency and
reduce costs.
Organizations today are straining to keep pace with the rapid
transformation from traditional TDM-based telephony to UC, and to
integrate IP communications into business processes and applications.
Acme Packet's Net-Net ISR and Net-Net ASC help businesses overcome these
challenges by streamlining and accelerating the deployment of
cost-effective solutions for regulatory compliance and
communications-enabled business processes.
Net-Net Interactive Session Recorder
Businesses and consumers are rapidly adopting new modes of communication
using IP voice, video, instant messaging and UC. Many organizations are
required by law to record certain conversations with customers, business
partners and the general public. While there are established methods for
recording voice calls in traditional telephony networks, there are few
cost-effective solutions for large scale recording of IP sessions. In
addition, with the widespread adoption of SIP trunking services by
enterprises and contact centers, service providers are uniquely
positioned to offer cloud-based IP communications services including
large scale session recording.
The Net-Net ISR is a complete, software-based IP session recording
solution designed to overcome the numerous challenges associated with
capturing, securing, archiving and managing interactive session
recordings in IP telephony and UC for regulatory compliance and quality
assurance purposes. Traditional voice-only call recording systems are
hardware-intensive, have capacity limitations, and can be complex to
install and manage. The Net-Net ISR is based on an open, active
recording architecture that significantly increases session capacity and
eliminates complex PBX and IVR interconnections. It also includes an
integrated media server to simplify deployment and reduce costs. In
addition, the Net-Net ISR offers flexible Web 2.0 APIs that enable
application developers to precisely control session recordings and to
easily integrate session recording into business applications.
"With on-demand language translation services, nothing is more critical
than quickly delivering an accurate, high quality service to our
customers," said Andre Lupenko, CEO, Telelanguage, Inc. "The Acme Packet
Net-Net ISR was much easier to deploy than other solutions we tested and
its open architecture enabled us to integrate session recordings
directly into the software we use to assure timely and high quality
services for our customers."
Net-Net Application Session Controller
Organizations today are leveraging the Internet and Web services to
rapidly deploy new applications on industry standard platforms at
reduced cost and lower development expense. Web 2.0 developers are
accustomed to abstraction layers that hide the complexities of various
elements in the underlying computing, storage and Web services
infrastructure, but this has been missing for IP communications
infrastructure.
The Net-Net ASC is a software platform deployed as a middleware solution
that enables enterprises and service providers to streamline business
processes by integrating applications with IP communications. With the
Net-Net ASC, businesses can be more efficient, improve productivity and
better serve customers by adding interactive voice, video, instant
messaging and multimedia communications to applications.
The Net-Net ASC enables Web 2.0 applications to control interactive IP
sessions using familiar service-oriented architecture (SOA) development
tools and frameworks. This shields developers from the complexities of
the underlying IP telephony and UC infrastructure, so they can focus on
business innovation. Examples include adding interactive voice to help
desk applications and for automatically generating outbound
notifications associated with appointments, deliveries and logistics.
The Net-Net ASC provides a vendor-independent, common application
development environment across a wide range of UC offerings, and speeds
time-to-market by eliminating the need for specialized knowledge of IP
infrastructure and protocols. It also features integrated signaling and
media control to reduce equipment costs as well as simplify installation
and operations.
"We are working closely with enterprise and service provider clients to
transform the way they do business. Our financial industry customers are
embedding context-aware, event-driven, multi-modal communications into
their critical business applications to give them a competitive edge in
the marketplace," said Indrajit "IG" Ghosh, chief technology officer,
Atlas Communications Technology. "The Net-Net ASC provides us with a
highly flexible, easy to integrate middleware solution that allows us to
rapidly deploy a wide variety of applications such as click-to-call,
voice drop/voice blast, and compliance notification across disparate IP
telephony and trading system environments."
"Acme Packet powers IP session delivery networks for the world's leading
service providers and Fortune 500 companies," explained Seamus Hourihan,
Acme Packet senior vice president of marketing and product management.
"Our products occupy key positions in these networks, satisfying
security, service assurance and regulatory compliance requirements for a
broad range of next-generation applications and services. The two new
products we're announcing today extend Acme Packet's presence at the
session layer in these networks - enabling our customers to fully
realize the business benefits of end-to-end IP communications."
